Hey, your mouse is ringing!

Thursday, January 5. 2006

Sony recently announced that they will soon be selling a USB optical mouse that doubles as a Skype phone receiver, dubbed the “Mousetalk”. The mouse/phone will look like a flat mouse that flips open to a clamshell-like cell phone. Sony even suggests that you can use the phone for hands-free conversations by opening the clamshell halfway. While the specifics of this feature are lacking, I assume that opening the mouse only halfway will trigger a speaker phone setting. It remains to be seen whether or not it will be possible to still retain functionality of the mouse while in hands-free mode.
