PlayStation 3 - Early November
Tuesday, March 14. 2006
Today at PS Business Breifing 2006 March, Sony has officially announced that the PlayStation 3 will be delayed until the beginning of November 2006. Up until this point, the company had insisted that the PS3 was on track for a Spring launch, however this date has now been pushed back nearly half a year. The delay seems to stem from Sony’s decision to bundle Blu-Ray functionality, although no specific information was given.
Sony predicts that it will produce about 1 million units (initially), and 6 million units by the end of next year. This time around, they promise to get a larger number of units out the door at launch (as compared to the PS2 launch).

Namco’s Nintendo DS title Tales of the Tempest has been delayed from a 4/13 release date to 6/8, nearly two months later. The reason given for the delay is that the staff feels that in order to create a game that the consumers can be completely satisfied by, more improvements in quality are necessary (literally, “quality up”).
